Sean Price - Monkey Barz
Sean Price has been putting out great jams for more than a decade. First with Heltah Skeltah, then with Boot Camp Click, and finally as a solo artist. Monkey Barz is his first solo album, and also in my opinion his best, edging out his second solo album, Jesus Price Supastar. Both are great albums, however, so expect the cover of Supastar to be posted in the not too distant future as well.

Grand Puba - Reel to Reel
After Brand Nubian’s One for All, Puba broke away from the group and released the first of his three solo albums. It’s not a classic by any means, but it is a pretty good album, and I can’t hesitate recommending it, especially since you could pick it up at a used CD store for about $5–I got it for $3.99 in like new condition.

Jay-Z - Reasonable Doubt
The album that started it all for Mr. Carter. I can’t possible say anything about this album that hasn’t already said.

Naughty by Nature - 19 Naughty III
Naughty by Nature has always been a favorite of mine. Their first three albums all one-upped the ones before them, culminating in what I think is their best album, Poverty’s Paradise. This is their second album, released in 1993.

Public Enemy - Fear of a Black Planet
I shouldn’t have to say anything about this album. That’s a good thing, too, because midnight is upon us, and I’m not in the mood to write more than I have to.

Onyx - Shut ‘Em Down
As promised, here’s the second post for today. I don’t really want to talk about this CD, though. I just put it up because I needed something from 1998 and didn’t want to be boring and put up Black Star…yet!

Too Short - Life Is…Too Short
Since I never put up a post yesterday, this will be the first of two albums for today.
I never could sit through an entire Too Short album, but I do enjoy him in small chunks. If I recall correctly, this is his best selling album, with Born to Mack probably coming in second. Too Short has really fallen off in twenty years, however. Have you seen this guy in The MC: Why We Do it? He looks like he’s up and ready to move to Florida and just hit it up with the old folks at Boca Raton.

A Tribe Called Quest - The Low End Theory (and an Update on the Blog)
Since I don’t think this album really needs an introduction, I’m going to use this post to update you guys on the blog. I doubt anyone noticed, but I switched all the images from my old host, Hotlink Files, to my new host, Divshare. I did this mostly because Hotlink Files has probably the slowest website I’ve ever used, making uploading a giant pain in the ass. I like Divshare a lot more, especially since it has a lot more bandwidth available to me. I don’t know if I’m going to take advantage of that bandwidth yet, but I’ve been considering putting up a song or two from the album of the day from now on.
As for the posting schedule (yes, I plan this shit out), the next few days you’ll see me posting albums from years that haven’t been represented yet. I’m doing this to fill out the “Album Covers By Year” list on the sidebar. Once I feel I’ve filled out the sidebar to my satisfaction, I’ll open myself up to requests–if there are people out there who actually check this blog often enough to request anything, that is. If I don’t get any requests, you’re going to see a lot of Wild Pitch releases up in the near future, as it appears that Jcor/EMI (I’ll be honest and say I really don’t know who’s reissuing these albums) is reissuing a lot of Wild Pitch’s catalog, much of which I’ve already ordered from Dusty Groove.
Anyway, here’s the cover of the day:

Artifacts - That’s Them
A very late post for you guys today.
How slept on is this album? Well, I’ll just say that I completely forget I even owned this CD until When They Reminisce blogged about it earlier in the month. For some reason it never made it into my foobar media library, the equivalent of it being lost for the ages to me.

Common - Resurrection
Googling this album gets you jack shit in terms of album covers. I mean, I can understand lesser known albums not having better quality scans out there, but how can obviously classic albums like Eric B. & Rakim’s Paid in Full or Common’s Resurrection not have decent scans out there? Am I just looking in the wrong spots? I can’t be the only one that actually likes looking at the album art, can I? Anyway, as you can tell, this is the reissued album, where the artist’s name is simply listed as Common instead of Common Sense, but, uh, deal with it. I gave you this and I can sure as hell take it away.
On that note, enjoy!
